A few days ago, I published a new episode on my web TV channel www.profitablepractice.tv. That episode is about building a law practice that gives you the quality of life you desire and deserve. You might want to jump over there and view that episode.
You see I believe that when we start out practicing law we have this huge expectation that we’ve “arrived.” In some sense, once we settle in and begin the daily, weekly and monthly production of legal work, often based purely on the number of hours billed, we can get disillusioned about the choice of careers. I’m proud to be a lawyer because I help people. Sometimes regular people; sometimes business people who happen to work at or own companies. But what I get to do is help people. That’s why most of us became lawyers in the first place.
Here’s the thing: It is not necessary that we give up our lives in order to do what we do. It is not necessary that we give up our lives to have a profitable and fulfilling business.
BUT, if we get on “auto-pilot” and just do the daily grind, before long all we are is “a lawyer.” Now don’t get me wrong there’s nothing wrong with being “a lawyer.” But you can be so much more AND still be a lawyer.
But you’ve got to decide, and then you’ve got to implement.
This morning, one of my good friends Carrie Wilkerson, the Barefoot Executive, published a new episode on her TV Channel. I’m imbedding it below because I don’t want you to miss what she’s saying.
Are you willing to do what it takes to have the life that you want? Watch this, you’ll be blessed.
